Eyelid Surgery
At Eye Consultants of North Dakota, we offer a variety of surgical treatments for common eyelid disorders. Many small eyelid lesions can be removed with simple procedures that can be performed in the clinic with local anesthetic. We commonly diagnose and treat eyelid skin cancers and other skin abnormalities of the eyelids.
Dermatochalasis: Excess eyelid tissue can gradually worsen with aging and create sagging or drooping of the upper eyelid skin called Dermatochalasis. For many patients, this upper eyelid skin blocks peripheral vision. This condition can be treated with a same-day outpatient surgery called a Blepharoplasty. A Blepharoplasty allows removal of the excess skin to improve the appearance and function of the upper eyelids. For those patients that have had upper eyelid skin blocking their vision, this surgery is often covered by insurance. For others, the surgery can be performed for cosmetic reasons.
Entropion or Ectropion: The lower eyelids often become less tight with aging, and this gradual change can result in the lower eyelids turning inward or outward. A same-day surgery can be performed to realign the lower eyelid and alleviate the discomfort, redness and tearing associated with this disorder.
There are a variety of other eyelid procedures that can be performed by our surgeons. Please call our office to schedule a consultation.
